At PNO Chemistry I like to work on project that have a big variety, both in sector and in size. This means that I have experience in sectors such as cement, biotechnology, biobased, polymers, process engineering, fertilizers, minerals, mineral wool and others. The projects I work on vary from small R&D projects to large investment project in new processes and new factories. In the last couple of years I have focused more on larger investment projects such as the flagship projects that apply for the Innovation Fund.
My chemical background started when I was young when I already had an interest in making something out of other components. Eventually this interest became an MSc in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in organic chemistry (supramolecular polymer chemistry) from the Eindhoven University of Technology. Next to that I obtained certification for Technologies for Sustainable Development and PRINCE2 project management.
I am a technology optimist. That means that I see the challenges of today in terms of the use and waste of resources we have as a global society and think we can turn this into a circular and sustainable economy through innovative technology. The past and present has shown that any problem is solved when creative and innovative technologists and engineers occupy themselves with finding solutions.
