The European Union is eager to engage SMEs, particularly start-ups and spin-off companies, in its pursuit of innovation. To achieve this, the EU has made the innovation-focused Horizon Europe programme available to SMEs via the EIC Accelerator. This initiative provides funding to exceptionally innovative SMEs, with the goal of assisting them in creating and launching new innovative products, services, and business models that can spur economic growth.
Objectives
While the EIC Accelerator welcomes innovations in all fields of technology and application, it does not provide support to innovations that have a negative impact on the environment or social welfare, or those that are primarily intended for military purposes.
Details
The EIC Accelerator offers significant financial assistance that includes
- non-dilutive grant funding for innovation development expenses
- direct equity investments managed by the EIC Fund to cover scale-up and other relevant expenses
Furthermore, selected companies under the EIC Accelerator program are provided with coaching, mentoring, and access to investors and corporates, among other opportunities, as part of the EIC community.
